HR 284 Included in Recently Passed Permanent "Doc Fix" Legislation

The US House of Representatives just passed the permanent SGR fix bill (HR 2) by a vote of 392-37. HR. 284, the HME industry legislation to require binding bids and proof of state licensure is included in this package.

The Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) also known as the "doc fix", is used to determine Medicare payment rates for physicians and provide for a transition to a new dual system intended to reward quality care that would begin in 2019. It extends the funding for Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and community health centers for two years, as well as dozens of other Medicare related programs.

This SGR bill will provide a fast track for HR 284 binding bids bill. The White House has already signaled support for the bill. The next step will be for the bill to pass through the Senate which could happen as soon as tomorrow.
