OAMES Hosts Successful Fall Medicaid Training Seminar

OAMES Fall Medicaid Training Seminar was held on Sept. 13 in Columbus and drew over 80 participants.  The event is held in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Medicaid and the six Medicaid managed care organizations contracted with ODM and has become a long-standing successful training event for Ohio's HME providers.

Special thanks to the following speakers:

- Mina Uehara from the American Association for Homecare who provided a bonus session on the proposed Medicare ESRD/DMEPOS rule that will bring significant changes to the Medicare DME benefit in January 2019.

- Mark Rogers with ODM's Non-Institutional Policy Section who provided a timely update and Q&A on the 28 DME rules and 21 CMNs that were implemented on July 16 and discussed future projects suppliers should be watching for in the months ahead.

- Sarah Bivens with the External Business Relations Section presented an update on various Medicaid initiatives, billing tips and program changes.  Thank you to Sarah and colleague Ava Cottrell who stayed all day to meet one-on-one with providers to address specific questions and challenges individual providers are experiencing.

- OAMES immediate past president and State Policy chair John Reed moderated a managed care panel featuring a DME update by representatives from each of the Medicaid managed care plans:  Aetna Better Health of Ohio, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource, Molina Healthcare, Paramount Advantage, and United Healthcare Community Plan.  Thank you to the plans for continuing to partner with OAMES to provide training and trouble-shooting on HME issues.

Finally, special thanks to our presenting sponsors Compass Health, Quantum Rehab and The VGM Group for their support!

Watch for 2019 dates in the months ahead for next year's spring and fall programs.
